The purpose of this visit was to thank the Assemblyman and his Legislative Aid David Hewitt for the assistance they provided to secure a $125,000.00 grant from the NYS Dormitory Authority.
- Grant Details -
In 2013 the Cicero Fire Department and Cicero Fire District (Board of Fire Commissioners) initiated the plans to start the process of constructing a new fire station.
As a result of this process, the department met with Assemblyman Stirpe to discuss grant funding opportunities in which the Assemblyman initiated a NYS Grant through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY).
Over the course of the next three years, the following individuals dedicated several hundred hours on gathering information, completing paperwork, emails and conference calls:
- Assemblyman Stirpe and his Legislative Aid David Hewitt (who without their assistance would not have made this grant transition through the necessary phases so smoothly)
- Chief Jon Barrett, Deputy Chief George Barrett, Assistant Chief James Perrin, President Timothy Moran, Treasurer Karen Nicholas and Past President Christopher Hines
On November 28, 2018, Chief Jon Barrett and President Timothy Moran received information from DASNY that the grant review was completed and the funding was approved.
On January 2, 2019, the Cicero Fire Department received a check for $125,000.00 which will complete the funding on phase one of the station build.
The Chief's, Line, Executive Officers, Board of Fire Commissioners and members would like to thank Assemblyman Stirpe and Legislative Aid Hewitt for their DEDICATED assistance during this process.
